RE: ACCREDITED REINSURERS IN THE STATE OF ALASKA

Pursuant to AS 21.12.020, the Division of Insurance has reviewed the financial statements of various foreign reinsurers. I have, under the authority granted in AS 21.12.020, issued the following list of Accredited Reinsurers. These reinsurers have submitted to this state's authority and laws stated in AS 21.12.020(a)(2)(A)-(C):

Centre Reinsurance Company of New York

Commercial Risk Re-Insurance Company

Erie Insurance Exchange

Frankona America Life Reassurance Company

Frankona America Reinsurance Company

San Francisco Reinsurance Company

Sydney Reinsurance Corporation

Unionamerica Insurance Company, Ltd. (U.S. Reinsurance Trust)

United Republic Insurance Company

Western Atlantic Reinsurance Corporation

Winterthur Reinsurance Corporation of America

Zurich Reinsurance Centre

All domestic insurers are reminded that, pursuant to the law governing reinsurance credits, credit for reinsurance transactions shall be allowed only if the reinsurance is ceded to an assuming insurer that meets the criteria under AS 21.12.020. An Accredited Reinsurer is just one of the acceptable assuming insurers thereunder.

The furnishing of this list does not place any liability on the Division of Insurance, State of Alaska. The Division of Insurance reserves the right to remove a listing, acting on his own initiative, and to refuse to list any company regardless of its financial condition.

Please review AS 21.12.020 at your earliest convenience. The Division of Insurance shall expect all financial statements filed to be complete and truthful. Please TAKE NOTICE that filing a false financial statement, or making a false entry therein, constitutes a violation of AS 21.36.060 as well as a criminal violation pursuant to AS 11.56.201.
