This program provides direct compensation to Southeast Alaska hand and power trollers to help mitigate economic impacts from the reduction in Chinook Salmon harvests under the revised Pacific Salmon Treaty.
To be eligible for direct compensation, the permit holder must have caught and sold at least one Chinook salmon during the summer fishing season (July 1 – Sept 30) of 2012.
In early September, the Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission (CFEC) will mail pre-printed application packets to permit holders. Permit holders will receive the application at their official address of record. The completed application must be returned to the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development by December 4, 2013.
An overview of the Direct Compensation to Commercial Salmon Trollers program can be found on the Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s Southeast Alaska Chinook Salmon Fishery Mitigation Program’s website
