Southeast Alaska Chinook Salmon
Fishery Mitigation Program

2010 and 2011 Direct Distribution Programs for Commercial Salmon Trollers

This program provides direct compensation to Southeast Alaska hand and power trollers to help mitigate economic impacts from the reduction in Chinook Salmon harvests under the revised Pacific Salmon Treaty.

To be eligible for direct compensation, the permit holder must have caught and sold at least one Chinook salmon during the summer fishing season (July 1 – Sept 30) of 2010 or 2011.

In early March, the Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission (CFEC) will mail pre-printed application packets to permit holders. Permit holders will receive the application at their official address of record. The completed application must be returned to the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development by May 13, 2013.

An overview of the 2010 and 2011 Direct Compensation to Commercial Salmon Trollers program can be found on the Alaska Department of Fish and Game’s Southeast Alaska Chinook Salmon Fishery Mitigation Program’s website
