Farm Loan Program

Program Goals:
FSA lends money and provides credit counseling and supervision to eligible applicants who operate family-size farms. FSA makes and guarantees a variety of loans for youth, new and experienced farmers, and producers undergoing emergency situations. FSA also provides credit counseling and supervision to farmers and ranchers who are temporarily unable to obtain private, commercial credit.

Eligibility:
General eligibility requirements include the following:
-Have sufficient education, training, or experience in managing and operating a farm or ranch that demonstrates the managerial ability needed to succeed in farming.
-Be a citizen of the United States (or legal resident alien).
-Have the legal capacity to incur the obligations of the loan.
-Be unable to obtain credit elsewhere.
-Have an acceptable credit history.
-Be the operator or tenant operator of a family farm after the loan is closed.
-Not have had a previous loan which resulted in a loss to the agency (with certain exceptions).
-Not be delinquent on any federal debt.
-Other eligibility requirements pertaining to individual loans may also apply.
Alaska Program Status:
The program is currently receiving applications for farm operating, farm ownership, and youth loans.
