Bulk Fuel Upgrade Program

Program Goals:
To assist rural communities in the management of their bulk fuel inventories through the construction of right-sized, code-compliant tank farms and the use of sound business practices through the development and implementation of business plans.
Resource Provided:
AEA's Bulk Fuel Upgrade Program is predominantly funded by the Denali Commission. AEA provides project design/engineering, business planning support, and construction management services. Through the Denali Commission Training Fund, tank farm operator training is provided by Alaska Vocational Training Center. AEA oversees business plan management training.
Eligibility:
Priority is given to communities whose fuel vendors or regulating agencies have threatened to halt delivery of fuel or where conditions have become a life, health, or safety matter. Communities who participate in this program must meet sustainability criteria established by the Denali Commission.
