Port Alsworth is on the east shore of Lake Clark at Hardenburg Bay, 22 miles northeast of Nondalton. It lies in the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. The community
lies at approximately 60.202500° North Latitude
and -154.312780° West Longitude.

 Port Alsworth is located in the
Iliamna Recording District.
It lies in the transitional climatic zone. Average summer temperatures range from 42 to 62; winter temperatures range from 6 to 30. Annual rainfall is 26 inches, with 70 inches of snowfall. |

| Originally a native village, a post office was established in 1950.
The population of the community consists of 22.1%
Alaska Native or part Native.
Port Alsworth's population is primarily non-Native.
During the 2000 U.S. Census,
total housing units numbered 70, and vacant housing units numbered 36.
Vacant housing units used
only seasonally numbered 34.
U.S. Census data for Year
2000 showed 58 residents
as employed. The unemployment rate at that time was
4.92 percent,
although
32.56 percent of
all adults were not in the work force. The median household
income was $58,750, per capita income was $21,716, and
6 percent of residents
were living below the poverty level.

Utilities, Schools and Health Care |
| Approximately 50% of homes use individual wells and septic systems, and are fully plumbed. The remainder haul water from a nearby source and use outhouses. A number of houses are used only seasonally. The community operates an electrical system. There is no landfill -- residents and lodges burn their own refuse.
Electricity is provided by Tanalian Electric Cooperative.
There is one school located in the community,
attended by 37
students.
Auxiliary health care is provided by Port Alsworth First Responders (850-2225).

and Transportation |
Port Alsworth offers several lodges and outfitters/guides for summer recreational enthusiasts. Four residents hold commercial fishing permits.
There are two privately-owned and operated airstrips in the area -- a 3,000' long by 100' wide dirt/gravel airstrip operated by Glen Alsworth and The Farm Lodge, and a 4,200' gravel airstrip operated by Jackie and David Wilder. |
