Happy Valley lies on the west coast of the Kenai Peninsula on the Sterling Highway, 22 miles northwest of Homer, on Happy Valley Creek. The community
lies at approximately 59.935830° North Latitude
and -151.737220° West Longitude.

| The local name was reported and published by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1950.
The population of the community consists of 9.4%
Alaska Native or part Native.
The Happy Valley area is a roadside geographic location.
During the 2000 U.S. Census,
total housing units numbered 398, and vacant housing units numbered 202.
Vacant housing units used
only seasonally numbered 175.
U.S. Census data for Year
2000 showed 170 residents
as employed. The unemployment rate at that time was
16.67 percent,
although
57.5 percent of
all adults were not in the work force. The median household
income was $30,139, per capita income was $19,377, and
17.51 percent of residents
were living below the poverty level.

Utilities, Schools and Health Care |
| The majority of homes use individual water wells and septic tank systems. The remainder of residences haul or have water delivered, and use privies. 60% of homes are fully plumbed. Many homes in this area are used only seasonally. The Borough provides refuse transfer station in Anchor Point, at mile 157 Sterling Hwy., and in Ninilchik, at mile 138.5 Sterling Hwy.
Electricity is provided by Homer Electric Association.
There are no state operated schools located in the community.
Local hospitals or health clinics include South Peninsula Hospital in Homer (235-8101).
Happy Valley is classified as a highway village, it is found in EMS Region 2J in the Kenai Penninsula Region. Emergency Services have highway, helicopter and coastal access. Emergency service is provided by volunteers

The economy of the Kenai area is diverse: oil and gas processing, timber, commercial and sport fishing, government, retail businesses and tourism-related services provide employment.
The Sterling Highway provides a route to Anchorage and the statewide highway system. Nearby Homer offers an airport, harbor and dock, and State Ferry landing. |
