Edna Bay is located on the southeast coast of Kosciusko Island, northwest of Prince of Wales Island, in Southeast Alaska. It lies 90 miles northwest of Ketchikan. The community
lies at approximately 55.948890° North Latitude
and -133.662220° West Longitude.

The area is dominated by a cool maritime climate. Average temperatures in the summer range from 46 to 70; winter temperatures range from 32 to 42. |

and Demographics |
| Edna Bay is a fishing community, originally named by the U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey in 1904. Settlement was enabled by a State land disposal sale. A post office was established in 1943, but was transferred to Ketchikan in 1960.
The population of the community consists of 4.1%
Alaska Native or part Native.
Edna Bay is a community of fishing families. The school was closed for the 2000 school year, due to declining enrollment.
During the 2000 U.S. Census,
total housing units numbered 40, and vacant housing units numbered 21.
Vacant housing units used
only seasonally numbered 9.
U.S. Census data for Year
2000 showed 18 residents
as employed. The unemployment rate at that time was
0 percent,
although
48.57 percent of
all adults were not in the work force. The median household
income was $44,583, per capita income was $58,967, and
23.08 percent of residents
were living below the poverty level.

Utilities, Schools and Health Care |
| There are no community facilities. All residents use individual untreated water sources, such as springs or rain catchment. A few houses are connected to a central septic tank; the majority use outhouses or leachfields. Approximately half of the homes are plumbed. There is no central electric system.
Electricity is provided by Individual Generators.
There is one school located in the community,
attended by 10
students.
Auxiliary health care is provided by Edna Bay EMS (907-594-6109) or Prince of Wales Island Area EMS/Ambulance (907-826-2367/3330).

| Economy
and Transportation |
A local sawmill, commercial fishing (power trolling), and the school provide the majority of employment. Thirteen residents hold commercial fishing permits. A fish buyer is located in the bay in the summer.
Transportation and cargo are provided by float plane or boat from Craig, Ketchikan or Petersburg. Edna Bay is not connected to the Island's road system. A dock and harbor with breakwater are available. |
