The community is located on the Kenai Peninsula about 1.5 miles northwest of Homer, on the Sterling Highway. It lies just south of Anchor Point. The community
lies at approximately 59.699040° North Latitude
and -151.560710° West Longitude.

| History, Culture
and Demographics |
| In the summer of 1778 Captain James Cook and crews of the Resolution and Discovery sailed into the Inlet looking for a Northwest Passage. Nearby Homer was first settled in the late 1800s. Diamond Ridge is a local name, first reported in the 1950s by the USGS. The ridge for which the community is named is at 1,100 ft. elevation, and is five miles long.
The population of the community consists of 4.9%
Alaska Native or part Native.
The community is a relatively large settlement, with over 850 homes. Residents are primarily non-Native.
During the 2000 U.S. Census,
total housing units numbered 850, and vacant housing units numbered 167.
Vacant housing units used
only seasonally numbered 128.
U.S. Census data for Year
2000 showed 814 residents
as employed. The unemployment rate at that time was
9.96 percent,
although
39.48 percent of
all adults were not in the work force. The median household
income was $50,977, per capita income was $23,864, and
7.93 percent of residents
were living below the poverty level.

Utilities, Schools and Health Care |
| Nearly all occupied homes have individuals wells and septic systems, with complete plumbing. Refuse is disposed of at Borough-operated transfer stations. One is located in Anchor Point, at mile 157 Sterling Hwy.
Electricity is provided by Homer Electric Association.
There are no state operated schools located in the community.
Local hospitals or health clinics include South Peninsula Hospital in Homer (235-8101).

and Transportation |
Many residents work in Homer in a variety of positions. The community caters to the sport-fishing industry, and several lodges provide services.
The Sterling Highway provides access to Anchorage. Nearby Homer offers an airport, State Ferry access, and docking and boat launching facilities. |
