Community Sanitation Overview:
The City of Nunapitchuk operates the washeteria, water treatment plant, garbage collection, landfill/lagoon, and the flush haul system for the community. The utility services provide water deliveries and septic haul-out to residential customers connected to the flush haul system. Those not connected to the flush haul, utilize the container haul system. Sewage containers are emptied into one of two sewage lagoons (one on each side of the River). The City provides piped water to the school. Teacher's housing, located in the old school, has an independent water and sewer system that still needs improvements. Plans are underway for a piped watering point for the other half of the community located on the other side of the river, and close and fill in old sewage bunkers and lagoon.
RUBA Status & Activities This Qtr:
RUBA staff was contacted by Nunapitchuk staff with questions concerning employee evaluations and raises. A secondary question was how to arrange direct deposit payroll rather than issues pay checks from the office. RUBA recommended meeting with the Mayor to discuss raises and employee evaluation and contact the city's bank for direct deposit procedures. The city clerk contacted RUBA for directions in making policy changes, amendments, budgeting process and when the next clerk training would be available. RUBA provided the requested information. RUBA staff send James, city clerk job descriptions for city staff in administration and finance, and other positions within the city. James Angaiak called with questions what procedures to follow when the Mayor is out of town and there are official documents that need to be signed. I recommend if he cannot find the procedures in his files to have the next officer in charge who is the Vice Mayor to sign the documents. When the Mayor comes back the Council should set up procedures concerning official signers for documents.
RUBA Activities for the Coming Qtr:
Get copies of monthly finance reports. Train new city clerk. Get bookkeeper in QuickBooks Pro training.
