Community Sanitation Overview:
Water is derived from a dam and reservoir on a small stream, is treated and stored. Akhiok provides a piped gravity water and sewer system that serves all 25 homes in the community. The community is currently boiling its drinking water -- a new water source is needed. A new landfill site is under development. Electricity is provided by City of Akhiok.
RUBA Status & Activities This Qtr:
Two members of the Akhiok City Council attended an Organizational Management training conducted by RUBA in March 2007. Although the City held and certified their elections they have not had the election of officers. In speaking with the standing Mayor election of officers will be held in the near future.
RUBA Activities for the Coming Qtr:
RUBA staff will travel to the community for an on-site visit once election of officers has been completed. RUBA staff will then help the council in prioritizing the immediate needs that have to be addressed.
