Vinsel,
Mark
Chair
|
Mark Vinsel is currently Executive Director of United Fishermen of Alaska
and President of Juneau Artists Gallery, Ltd, a retail cooperative of 26
artists. I have painted watercolors and ink painting since 1980, studying
under Chinese master Tseng Ta-Yu in San Francisco, and graduated from San
Francisco State University Design and Industry department in 1985. I was
one of the first artists to show work on the World Wide Web, beginning
in 1994. I met Juneau artist Dianne Anderson in 1999; we were married in
2005 and make our home in a small cabin in Juneau. |

Munoz,
Rie
Vice Chair

Rie Munoz,
a Dutch American,
has lived
in Alaska
since 1951.As
an artist
she spends
most of her
time sketching
and painting
the people
of Alaska:
fishing,
berry picking,
whaling,
children
at play,
as well as
animals and
legends.
Munoz has
studied at
the Washington
and Lee University
in Virginia
and at the
University
of Alaska
Juneau. In
1999 Rie
Munoz received
an Honorary
Doctorate
of Humanities
Award from
the University
of Alaska
Southeast.
In 2000 she
was named
the Pacific
Rim Art Exposition
Artist of
the Year,
and in 2003
and 2005
the Puyallup
Fair Artist
of the Year.
In 2004 Munoz
received
the Alaska
State Council
on the Arts
Governor’s
Award for
Individual
Artist. |

Jim
 |
From
Chicago originally,
he homesteaded
on Bishop
Lake, North
Kenai in
1958 with
wife Nedra
and son Thor.
An artist
since childhood,
a retired
commercial
fisherman
and art teacher.
He continues
to create
with stone
lithography
and paint. |

Nicole

Nicole Clark has lived in Alaska for a cumulative total of 21 years. She is a graduate of UAS with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management. Currently employed as the Marketing Manager with True North Federal Credit Union, she lives in Juneau, Alaska with her husband, Chris and his 15 year old son. Having followed the State Quarter program from a retail background, she feels Alaskans are up to the challenge of producing a State Quarter that exemplifies the grandeur and scale of our great state. |

Stacie
came to Alaska
Twenty-five
years ago
while serving
in the US
Air Force.
She has an
AAS in Photography
and a BS
in Geology.
For the past
fifteen years
she has worked
primarily
in advertising
and marketing.
In 2004 her
photo and
design were
chosen for
the National
Veterans
Day poster.

Stiles,
Josephine
E.
|
Josie
is a lifelong
Inupiaq
Eskimo
of Alaska,
originally
from Unalakleet,
and a 26
year resident
of Nome.
She is
a single
parent
of two
daughters,
Kallie
and Katie
King. She
has been
working
for the
City of
Nome for
three years
as Director
of the
Nome Convention & Visitors
Bureau.
Prior to
that, she
worked
for 18
years administering
Village
Public
Safety
with the
Alaska
State Troopers
to serve
15 communities
of the
Bering
Straits
Region.
She has served on various boards that include Nome Community Center; as
President of the Bering Sea Women’s Group, which operates a shelter for
women and children; Unalakleet Native Corporation; and is President of
the Nome Arts Council. She is also a member Tesoro Iron Dog Board of
Directors.

Hanscom, Richard "Dick"
 | Richard
(Dick) Hanscom
is originally
from Newburyport,
Mass. and
a graduate
of the University
of Maine
at Orono.
He and his
wife Janice
were married
in 1974 and
arrived in
Fairbanks
that same
year. A professional
numismatist
since 1976,
he is currently
a partner
in Alaska
Rare Coins
in Fairbanks.
He has published
the newsletter "Alaskan
Token Collector & Polar
Numismatist" since
1979, for
which he
received
a special
award from
the Alaska
Historical
Society in
2000. He
is the author
of the book "Alaska & Yukon
Stocks and
Bonds," published
in 2002.
Alaska has
a rich numismatic
(coins, currency,
tokens, medals,
stocks and
bonds) history.
It is his
hope that
the Alaska
state quarter
will be a
significant
addition
to that legacy. |
